DECORATIONS

My decorations are made from Glacier porcelain. I design & cut a plate that I then use to emboss the relief image onto the porcelain. On some of the decorations I apply oxide pigments for colour while the porcelain is still unfired, I then very carefully use a damp cloth to remove part of the pigment to highlight the lovely contrast between the striking white of the porcelain & oxide colours. When fired Glacier porcelain turns brilliant white & can have a glass like translucency, its made from New Zealand China Clay and the whitest silica sand.
